Tell us a bit about yourself

Co-founder of Obox Design, we create Premium WordPress Themes and plugins. We also push the boundries of WordPress as a CMS for custom development.

Why WordPress?

It’s a great framework to build upon, it’s easy to expand and the community is huge and willing to help.

What are your thoughts on the WordPress community as a whole? And the South African WP community?

Like any community there are good parts and bad parts. The willingness of the community to help you when you’re stuck is mind blowing, but at the same time you get the haters just like in other walks of life.

What is your talk going to be about?

I’m on the Publisher Panel discussing The Future of WordPress Publishing.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Cape Town?

Meeting up with people who you only see on Twitter and hearing what the other panelists/speakers have to say.

What is your favourite WordPress theme and/or plugin, and why?

Hmm, there are so many. Contact Form 7 is great because of its simplicity (maybe the UI needs some work), and WP Hyper Cache because it just does the job.

Share one WP tip

If you think you need to create a custom function for something, do some Googling first. It’s most likely available in the source.

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do you follow?

I don’t have any particular idols, but the dudes who make plugins without any rebate, who just do it to provide to the community because they’re cool people, those dudes insire me.

Where do you see WordPress 2 years from now?

I certainly don’t see it slowing down, it’ll most likely just evolve into a slicker system in general, I don’t think the base will ever change. It’ll always be shipped as an expandible blogging platform. That’s what makes it great.
