I’m a Cape Town based serial entrepreneur, photographer and dad. I’ve been\u00a0blogging since 2006 – at least 5 posts a month.\u00a0Read more:\u00a0http:\/\/www.swimgeek.com\/blog\/about\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Why WordPress?<\/h3>\n

It’s Open Source, the themes are cool, it’s easy to manage and easy to teach\u00a0people how to help themselves with WordPress.<\/p>\n

What are your thoughts on the WordPress community as a whole? And the South African WP community?<\/h3>\n

It’s pretty awesome. It’s big and disruptive and shifts the power balance.\u00a0We often forget the impact it’s had.<\/p>\n

Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Cape Town?<\/h3>\n

I guess I’m interested in showing the diverse uses of WordPress, with a\u00a0focus on getting more startup businesses and photographers to use WordPress.<\/p>\n

What is your talk going to be about?<\/h3>\n

A few insights on using WordPress over the last 5 years as an entrepreneur\u00a0and a photographer.<\/p>\n

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Cape Town?<\/h3>\n

Catching up with a few geeks and meeting a few new people.<\/p>\n

What is the one thing you want people to walk away with from your talk?<\/h3>\n

Why it’s worth investing time and energy in WordPress.<\/p>\n

What is your favourite WordPress theme and\/or plugin, and why?<\/h3>\n

I like Twenty Ten\/Twenty Eleven<\/a>, maybe because I’ve become a bit lazy in\u00a0tinkering with themes.\u00a0I think I have the Stats plugin installed on all my blogs.<\/p>\n

Share one WP tip<\/h3>\n

Use SVN to keep your blog versions current.<\/p>\n

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do you follow?<\/h3>\n

I follow Matt Mullenweg’s blog and Twitter stream.<\/p>\n

What is the most exciting feature\/addition\/improvement to WordPress
\nthat you have noticed in the last year?<\/h3>\n

The user experience improvements in the dashboard and editor.<\/p>\n
