Most know me as Jeffikus. I’m one of the lead developers at WooThemes.com, and I’ve been developing with WordPress for the past 6 years. Some of my others passions are software development standards, education, and the guitar. Prior to developing with WordPress I was a business analyst for a leading web application development company in Cape Town which I worked at after getting my Honors degree in Information Systems from our local University of Cape Town

Tell us more about how you became interested in WordPress, what about it drives your continued interest?
I became interested in WordPress while I was a business analyst as I had to investigate various CMS platforms for the company, and found that WordPress was pretty awesome!
Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Cape Town?
I really love presenting at WordCamps, I find it furthers my own knowledge as well as imparting some of what I’ve learnt. It’s a great way to get involved with the community. This will be my third WordCamp I’ve presented at, and the second in Cape Town.
What is your talk going to be about?
I’m going to be talking about choosing the best tools for the job when using WordPress in your business. Whether you are using WordPress as a platform for your website or product, or building client websites and applications, this is the talk that will equip your toolbox.
What is the one thing you want people to walk away with from your talk?
I want people to be able to walk away having some concrete ideas of what WordPress products and services they are going to try out and use to further their business or their clients. I hope to inspire and to add a lot of value.
What is your favourite WordPress theme and/or plugin, and why?
My favorite theme would be Whitelight from WooThemes as it is extremely versatile and well built (I’m biased, I worked on it!). Plus it’s a gorgeous design. On the plugin side I would have to say WooDojo and WP File Monitor as I install those on every WordPress site of mine.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Cape Town 2012?
I think chatting with other people in the WordPress community is what I most look forward to as it always gives you a fresh perspective on how to view WordPress.

Yes.
Is WordPress an effective platform for getting your message across?
Definitely, for both my professional and private use.
