What to expect at WordCamp Cape Town

So it’s just a few days to WordCamp Cape Town. Yes, we are all excited; it’s been 5 years, and finally, here we are again. As we will see lots of familiar faces, we will also meet new folks, some attending their first WordCamp. Whichever group you fall into, we have put together some notes on what to expect at WordCamp Cape Town this year.

  1. Diverse and friendly Community: The South Africa WordPress community prides itself as a diverse group of experts and amazing individuals from different backgrounds.
  2. Inspiring Sessions: We have put together a great list of sessions, workshops and talks covering a wide range of topics from Development and Design, to Business, Community and Open Source.

  3. Networking Opportunities: Like most tech events, WordCamps encourage networking. At WordCamp Cape Town, you will have the opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals, and potential collaborators.
  4. Local Flavor: Enjoy Cape Town’s unique culture, vibrant atmosphere, and delicious South African cuisine during the event and social activities.

We have also put together some important notes to keep in mind before and during the event.

  1. Registration: Ensure you are registered and pick up your attendee badge. Registration desks will be open from 8 AM on both days. Please make sure to keep your attendee badge safe for both days, as we won’t be replacing them. Your attendee badge gives you access to the event, as well as the after party.
  2. Venue Details: WordCamp Cape Town will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cape Town. Make sure to check the map and directions to avoid any last-minute rush. You can find out more about the venue here: About the Venue.
  3. Health and Safety: We implore you to follow all health and safety guidelines provided by the organizers and volunteers.
  4. Accessibility: As we take accessibility very important, we have ensured that the venue is fully accessible for everyone. If you need any special assistance, please reach out to the organisers in advance.
  5. Code of Conduct: WordCamp Cape Town adheres to the WordCamp Code of Conduct. Ensure you are familiar with it to help maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  6. Wi-Fi Availablity: Free Wi-Fi will be available at the venue.

  8. Weather: Cape Town weather can be unpredictable. Bring a light jacket and stay prepared for sudden changes.
  9. Assistance during the event: For any questions or assistance during the event, please speak to any organiser or volunteers at the event, they will be in a specified t-shirt for easy recognition.
