Call for Speakers

We’re looking for speakers to come and share their knowledge at this year’s WordCamp Cape Town! We’re going to be holding lightning talks, keynotes, and workshops, so please submit your applications if you’d like to speak at one or more of these sessions.

If you’re deciding which types of sessions best suit your desired topic, here are brief explanations of each type of session and the topics they are well suited to.

Lightning Talks

A lightning talk is a 15 minute slot. We move swiftly from one session to the next, hence they move like lightning. These sessions can be quick tips, commentary, or knowledge sharing. They’re free form and can fit well with many topics, though don’t offer enough time for a truly deep dive on the topic.

Keynote Sessions

A keynote is a 30-45 minute session with a question and answer session right after, if time allows. Keynotes offer the opportunity to dive deeper into a single topic or a big idea the WordPress community should hear more about.

Workshops

Much like a keynote, a workshop is hosted by one or more speakers about a specific topic. Where a workshop differs is that it is interactive. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops, sometimes set up certain software on their laptop ahead of time, and work together to achieve a specific outcome.

Here’s a list of topic ideas to get you started. Of course, if something else comes to mind while reading, please submit that idea as well.
